About the Course

This course is all about differential equations and covers both theory and applications. In the first five weeks, students will learn about ordinary differential equations, while the sixth week is an introduction to partial differential equations. The course includes 56 concise lecture videos, with a few problems to solve after each lecture. After each major topic, there is a short practice quiz. At the end of each week, there is an assessed quiz. Solutions to the problems and practice quizzes can be found in the instructor-provided lecture notes. The course materials are well prepared and organised. The teaching style is approachable and clear. I have learned a lot from this course. Thank you so much, and wish you all the best Prof. Chasnov!

The professor is really good at teaching. Examples are easy to understand. Practices are not very hard but require some effort and need you to understand the concepts and methods. Great experience!

I give it four stars. Pros: Overall, the course is very good! meaning that, it provides a good route map to navigate through this domain of math with connection to engineering. It is fundamentally free with a concise lecture note. Cons: Some steps goes through too quickly assuming the students are quite capable of auto-grasping / calculating / processing the information. So it really takes some efforts to follow the course rigorously while also grasping the math thinking. Suggest: I found deepseek and chatgpt to be extremely useful that they can answer my pin-point pain-in-the-S problems. That really helps in clarifying my misunderstanding and they barely made mistakes (R1 and O1). So I suggest the cousera or the teacher to somehow integrate these as standard learning tools. Not to mention that, deepseek is even free now. Delivering best wishes and gratitudes to course maker Jeffrey R. Chasnov.
